You do know that class action lawsuits only make the lawyers rich. The people filing the suit tend to get very little.
2 :
Please, I'm begging now...learn to spell or at least how to use spell check. pepole > people interrest > interested toghter > together manger > manager leagle > legal pappers > papers coontect > contact (I think) fell > feel turget > target mangement > management abusse > abuse no > know contect > I have no idea. You're obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Maybe the problem with your apartment is your fault.

Any method to call for free from any cell phone

Any method to call for free from any cell phone?
Ok, so I was wondering if there was any service on the internet that provies TOTALLY FREE CALLS that also works in Holland without downloading or installing anything onto your cell phone. Or if I have to install something what is it? I heard of some site called 100call. It provides free calls to people who also use this service but it's not free for people who don't use it. Please I really need a good answer because I don't want to pay (my parents never give me money for my cell phone). DON"T ANSWER WITH GET A JOB OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!

Ryndam Holland America cruise - stateroom with 4 people

Ryndam Holland America cruise - stateroom with 4 people?
We are booked in a "large inside stateroom" with our 2 children. From looking at the pictures there are only 2 single beds, so it seems like the couch must pull out to become the bed to sleep the extra two people. But it doesn't state this anywhere. Has anyone stayed in these rooms with 4 people to tell me how the sleeping arrangements work?
Cruise Travel - 5 Answers

There are three ways this can be set up. One is a pull out couch that sleeps two. Another is a pull out couch that sleeps one plus a bed that come out of the ceiling. Or there could be two beds that come out of the ceiling, like the examples shown in the link below ... http://www.webshots.com/search?query=cruise+quad+cabin&new=1&source=chromeheader
2 :
On this particular ship, quads (rooms for 4 people) have 2 lower beds (which can be combined into 1 big bed), 1 sofa bed, and 1 upper bed (pulls down from the ceiling). You can check out which cabins are quads in the deck plan. They're marked with a square: http://www.hollandamerica.com/fleet/deckPlan.do?ship=ry&deck=m&year=next My cousin and her family have done this. It's OK, but I don't think you'll want to spend too much time in your cabin other than sleeping. Enjoy your trip!
3 :
The coach pulls out. It is a little snug. But a lot of fun overall.
4 :
It seems like it should say somewhere if your particular room can accommodate 3rd & 4th passengers. However, I don't think you would be able to book 4 people in a room for 2 (as in the website wouldn't allow you to). As for the other two beds, usually on cruises the couch doesn't pull out. It converts to a bed... the like take the cushions off and stuff and it becomes a bed. The other pulls out from the ceiling. :)Ayelle
5 :
Yes, the beds come out of the wall, like a fold out bunk bed in most cases. Plenty of room, except after dinner when they pull these beds down and make them up for you. So try to pick up before you go to dinner...Also, take SOFT sided luggage to stuff under the beds when you unpack. Also, we designate the left end of the closet as a "hamper" to dump dirty clothes, and stuff them in a suitcase under the bed periodically. Done this OFTEN, and always had fun, just try to maintain a tiny bit of organization and the small space will be no big deal....

Thinking of getting Holland lap ear rabbit

Thinking of getting Holland lap ear rabbit?
I work in a pet store, and Ive fallen for a female rabbit that we have. The only reason Im thinking of not getting her is because of my dogs. I have three dogs. they have their own room, and are in there when they are not out. I would have the rabbit kept in a seperate room, with a secure door. I know I would be able to give her a great deal of attention. The only thing Im worried about is my dogs barking. I do not want the rabbit to get stressed out. Two of my rabbits in the past died of a heart attack. I just wondered if my dogs are barking in a seperate room if this could stress the rabbit out. Just wondered what some peoples opinions are, thanks!

You can get the rabbit if you please. Maybe the dogs have been barking at you past rabbits because they didn't know what it was. Introduce the rabbie to the dogs, and they will become acostom to the smell. Rabbit and dogs can develop fantastic relationships. It really depends on what breeds you have. If you have a duchound, i wouldn't sugest it. Dogs like that were breed to hunt and kill rabbits. Hope all goes well.
2 :
probably you are right - not to have the rabbit, as she might find the dogs too much and die. That would not be fair, and someone else might give her a gorgeous home
3 :
Go for it. I have rabbits and dogs and the rabbits have never had any problems with the dogs. Oh funny story in case you are still plauged by indicesion. Once I was feeding my rabbit and the cage door was open. I turned around and my Golden Retreiver was nose to nose with My NZ buck! I almost had a heart atack but the dog just trotted away and we were happy.

Historically, Holland fought the effects of Global Warming there with sea walls, etc. What are they doing now

Historically, Holland fought the effects of Global Warming there with sea walls, etc. What are they doing now?
My friend was in Holland (The Netherlands) about ten years ago, and said they were already actively working against the effects of Global Climate Change/Global Warming back then. They were building their sea walls and dikes up much higher, and also finding area for water flow in rivers and flood plains to exist safely. But now it is ten years later, and we know things have gotten worse, faster, and I am wondering what they are doing about it now. What are they working on? Technology? Changing housing patterns? Are there people who are emigrating away from that country? What is the latest? Please don't use this question as a forum to argue against Global Climate Change. While it is true that Holland has always been low, and parts are sinking, and the sea level rise wasn't always called "Global Warming" or anything else like that, it is also the case that there are articles from the late 1990's talking about Holland dealing with the sea level, tides and surf rising up higher due to Global Climate Changes/Global Warming. They first began working on the sea rise problem in the fifties. My question is what are they doing about the effects of it now. My question isn't what they are doing to lower the temperature, since Holland is too small to make much impact. The answer that has the two links (one to the NY Times) has good information. "Best answer" will go to someone who connects me to information coming right from The Netherlands, about what they are working on now, and planning in the future.

3 :
The only thing walls and dikes help with are longshore current errosion, which is not an effect of global warming, but what happens to ocean shores. They are probably currently/ regularly rebuilding and fixing these walls because they are being erroded by waves and water movement! The Netherlands is probably cleaner than some countries because more people ride their bikes there (so I've heard).
4 :
There are areas of holland that were always below sea level, global warming wasn't the reason for dykes
5 :
the netherlands r expected 2 go underwater w/in 50 years
6 :
Well the EU is concidered a world leader in dealing with Greenhouse Gas emissions so I think they are doing quite a bit in terms of sea level rise by using environmental policies like Greenhouse Gas caps, emissions trading etc.. They are currently working on the most important issue Transportation.. Cars are the most prevalent source of human GHG emissions..
7 :
What kind of revisionist liberal stuff have you been reading? Holland built the sea walls because they DRAINED a sea bed to make more usable land. They were building the dikes and using windmills to pump out the water for hundreds of years before anyone came up with the term "Global Warming." Your question is based on a premise that has no foundation in reality.

what is the Huge red lump, and how do i get rid of it

what is the Huge red lump, and how do i get rid of it!?
whilst I was on holiday in spain i noticed a small, slightly saw red lump, just below my waist line at the top of the pubic hair region, it got slightly bigger and then shrunk and almost disappeared, that was around 5 weeks ago, I thought that it was just a mosquito bite or and ingrown hair, but over the last 2 weeks, it has re-appeared and gotten bigger and bigger, and today its sore as hell, its now about the size of half a ping pong ball raised from my skin, and is perfectly circular, very red and very sore and the area around that is swollen and red also it does look as though eventually it will come to a head but at the moment its just smooth and shiny and the skin is starting to crack, I have had similar things before on my inner thighs, but this one is huge, I know that the obvious answer is to go and see a doctor but I am English and currently working in Holland and have no insurance, I can go home if it doesn't sort itself out, but i'm just looking to see if there is anyone who knows about this or has had this, or knows a way i can get a head up on it, I have used heat on it which i have read on here works but, still nothing ......... i need to sort something out as its getting very sore! hope you can help!

Sounds like an infected ingrown hair, they can get pretty big & they often come back. Try applying a warm/hot cloth to it 1-2 times a day, apply rubbing alcohol then some kind of Neosporin & cover it with a band aid during the day, take it off at night for air. Also, if you shave (usually the cause for ingrown hairs) try waxing, or applying peroxide/rubbing alcohol after you shave. If it doesn't go eventually go away after trying that method, you will have to see a doctor in order to get rid of it & like the person said below, it could definitely have developed into staph infection.
2 :
It's an abscess. It may have started out as an infected follicle or ingrown hair, but that doesn't matter now. If it's that big, it's infected and needs to be treated. If you let it go it could get into your blood stream and cause death. It's not a joke to let an infection go for that long. You may not want to, but you need to do the obvious, go to the doctor before it gets any worse. Abscesses in that region are prone to spread quickly and can spread to the mucus membranes inside of you and get into your blood quickly.
3 :
tada you have a staph infection which is likely caused by an ingrown hair. Bust it buddy.
4 :
yes its probably and abscess from staph infection.get it treated quickly before it gets to serious.if it isnt too bad they will probably send you home with some antibiotics but if it too severe to be cured with antibiotics then they might have to cut it open and let the fluids drain and that is very painfull. even if it is ping pong ball sized they might not have to cut it open .just get to the doctors quickly and get some antibiotics and you will be fine withing a week or two
5 :
It sounds like a boil. Boils are caused by infected hair follicles or staph infection. If it's caused by a staph germ, you need to go to the doctor for antibiotics. If it's not caused by staph, you need to soak in warm water or warm compress 3-4 times a day, till it comes to a head. Wash the area with antibacterial soap and keep it clean and covered. It may need to be drained by a doctor if it does not come to a head soon. Don't let it go too long, cause if it's staph, it will cause you more problems than just being a boil. Good Luck

When you will lose your job for redundancy, how should you proceed for next job

When you will lose your job for redundancy, how should you proceed for next job?
I have been working as a software quality assurance engineer for 4 years. Now from my current company, I have lost my job for redundancy. The company wants to outsource their works to Holland and eliminate the whole team. Now how would i proceed for my next job? will it be a good impression that i have lost my job. Will i tell them that i was actually on a fixed term contract? but even if i do that how will i give reference to my new company. My company does not want to tell anyone that it was a contract role. what can i do now? I already had an interview and I told them the truth. At the begining of the interview, the guy was really interested in me for the role. But when i told him my current situation, he seemed different. He said he will let me know later on. Its a critical situation for me. After 4 years of experience, do i need to start from the scratch? its very upsetting. I am not worried about my qualification but just worried about the reference as it matters. I also have finished my MSc from Queen Mary, University of London in computer Science. I am very depressed now. Is there anyone who can give me good suggestions?!

You don't have to put them as a previous employer on your resume, but I still highly recommend it. Having experience while job searching is huge. Having anything less than 1-2 is pretty bad. Most employers will barely hire you even if you DO have 1-2 years, so having more is a huge advantage. If a prospective employer asks you why you left your last job, just tell them that the company cut your entire department for outsourcing. Don't mention that you were cut specifically or anything like that as then they will wonder if there was a reason why. Remember, you are trying to sell yourself in interviews. Focus on your strengths, not on your weaknesses. Focus on your experience with that company and how it would benefit the next company. Focus on what you can bring to the table.

yesterday i found a syringe in my boyfriend's drawyer.

yesterday i found a syringe in my boyfriend's drawyer..?
me and me bf have been together for 2 years and 4 months and were havign a baby boy.. i know he wouldnt do these things bcs we're having something big .. i know he takes weed as he works in holland too and i dont blame him he's works on an oil rig its not easy.. anyway while he was getting washed i looked in his drawer and i saw the syringe..when i confronted him he got mad saying he bought it on purpose to see if i would acually look.. and called me nosy and stuff..i had seen him hiding something.. and i looked :( and he said he bought it on purpose to see..but i doubt it..i remember his left arm hurting a lot and stuff..and before getting washed he went and took something else from the drawyer he just wouldnt tell me though :( please help.. there was also a bag there with a code kind of (f- and some numbers i think ).. can anyone explain this? i need to know if he is lying or not ..i dont know what to think but im sure he didnt tell me the truth cos he knows he would loose me :( i told him i'd be there for him no matter what but i hate him lying as he did it before.. :( uff he is not taking drugs on the oil rig !!! he is two weeks there two weeks here.. i just thought he might be upset and when he is at home he would take.. he is a very good person and i love him a lot thats why i was dissapointed when he didnt tell me the truth..

No one would purposely have a syringe just to see if someone would find it.
3 :
He's going to lose you if he keeps lying to you. He's mainlining. Get out, now.
4 :
His story is not plausible, so it5 is most likely he is injecting. No-one would obtain a syringe otherwise. He is a fool because his job could be on the line and he has a baby coming along. You now have to do what's best for the baby, and you must recognise that you can't bring a baby up in a household where there is a drug addict. I wish you luck.
5 :
I think it's obvious your boyfriend is a worthless liar. Call the police right away. If he's doing drugs on the job at an oil rig, the moron could end up killing someone.
6 :
Dont give him the chance to lie to you. Just confront him and tell him straight out, I KNOW, youre lying to me. I KNOW, youre using. And them tell him what needs to happen. You cannot have him around a baby. What if he gets you started on drugs? What will happen to your child? You need to talk to him, find out if he's willing to get help, and depending on his decision, you need to make plans for yourself on how you will raise your child if he is not going to be in your life.
7 :
He may well be taking drugs but have you considered it for health issues? He may be embarrassed about it, he may have diabetes type 1 so you must be very careful how you confront him. There is doubts about him having diseases though because you need to test blood glucose levels when you're diabetic, does he ever leave the room before meals? There is a lot to take into consideration, but I am not saying that he is not on drugs, so don't be too abrupt when you confront him.
8 :
Why for f@cks sake would he have a syringe in the house? And I do not believe his lame excuses to see if you were gonna look for it:get real If he works in Holland and I live there chances are big he is shooting drugs. You can get them all over the place and you are allowed to use them. Guess he went overboard and tried it himself. He shots stuff up his veins in his arm. Rescue yourself before this gets out of hand. Colors
9 :
Much as the others have said. 1} Nobody hides syringes just as a party trick. 2} If he had diabetes, you would know by now. Same with any other legitimate medical use. 3} He's a pot-head - you already know that. 4} You know he's a liar. 5} It could perhaps be (anabolic) steroids but - he got you pregnant and that wouldn't happen if he was on steroids! 6} If it isn't medically prescribed - and it isn't, is it? - then it's definitely harmful and likely to be illegal (depending on the jurisdiction). 7} You are at risk, and therefore, so is the baby. So sorry. Hard to decide what to do.

Kids unhappy what shall I do

Kids unhappy what shall I do?
We have just moved to France and living in a beautiful place but it is not all we thought it would be. My hubby is working in Holland where we have lived for the last 4 years happily. So we only see him at weekends. The kids all hate school, and want to leave to go back to the UK or Holland. We are English and so going back to the UK means for me that I would be close to family. I want to go, the kids want to go but hubby doesn't. We haven't bought the place in France yet, just renting it but we have paid 20,000 deposit which we would lose if we moved out of here. What would you do?? The move to France was a dream ...mainly for hubby.

I do not understand. If your cell phone can send and receive text messages, and the other person can as well, it really does NOT matter where the other person IS. If they are connected to the network, they will get the text message regardless of their actual physical location. That is the way cell phones WORK, point to point communication regardless of origin location and regardless of destination location. So, I do not understand, if you have their phone number and they and you are within range of a tower, why this would not work... unless you have the wrong number, of course...
2 :
You have to add international long distance service to your account. It gives your phone the ability to make overseas calls. The number is 1-800-331-0500.

Finally the Battalion commander told of his company commanders to fight back and after they wiped a Serbian column. Both the Company and Battalion commander were relieved and the UN apologized for attacking people who were MURDERING MEN, WOMAN, and CHILDREN. Then you the UN relieving Executive Outcomes in Africa. 100 guys from Executive Outcomes did a better job keeping the peace than 5,000 UN peacekeepers. How do I become a Dutch citizen

How do I become a Dutch citizen?
I am a US citizen and I would like to immigrate to Holland. Can I stay and work in a high-skilled job in Holland without Dutch citizenship? If not, how can I become a Dutch citizen? Unless you have a claim on nationality by birth (ie a parent still in possession of Dutch nationality) then in principle you would need to reside legally in the Netherlands for 5+ years (3+ in case of being in a registered relationship with a Dutch national. You can read about how to acquire Dutch nationality here: http://www.minbuza.nl/en/Services/Consular_Services/Dutch_Nationality A student visa will not count towards acquiring Dutch nationality* You do not need to become a Dutch citizen in order to reside in the Netherlands, but you will need a residence permit to do so. In the case of an American then you can visit the Netherlands as a tourist for up to 90 days but not work. Basically to move over here with the wish to live and work, then you would have to find an employer who would apply for a work permit on you behalf. That work permit would not be granted unless it was proven that the job is of such a specialist nature that no-one else in the total pool of labour from (not just the Netherlands but the) whole EEA area. So whilst a MSc in Finance is a good start, it is not a guarantee because there are no end of Dutch and other EEA graduates in the same field currently taking any job they can because of not being able to find jobs in the current economy. You can read more about the details of the process here in a question I answered a while ago for another American interested in the same. It gives links to the IND (Dutch immigration site), how to look for jobs and accommodation as well. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Au4FSM_iOwVeAeSn5NGVt4fty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081029005645AAYhd63 (saving me retyping and also this turning out to be a very long answer!) As mentioned, you also have to take into account that the economy is having an effect on the EEA market and whilst the Netherlands is not (yet?) as badly affected as other EU countries such as Spain or the UK, of course the labour market in those countries are free to move to the Netherlands as well and jobs that don't require many qualifications/experience are easily filled by EEA passport holders. So read the link I gave you first, and then you can follow up with details on: http://www.ind.nl/EN/verblijfwijzer/ - immigration dept wizard http://www.ind.nl/en/Images/4012_VIN_ENG_tcm6-595.pdf - immigration dept overview (brochure) http://www.netherlands-embassy.org/dutchmissions.asp - links to Dutch consolate details and a confirmation of what I stated Another good source is the expat sites and you can check forums as well to see people who have "been there, done that" http://www.justlanded.com/english/Netherlands http://holland.angloinfo.com/ http://www.expatica.com/nl/main.html In short, you need highly specialist skills which are in demand to get you into the Netherlands (unless you have a proven relationship with a Dutch national) for living & working. Another route is to work for a company in the US which has branch offices in NL with the aim of being transferred based on in-house experience built up - but it also has to be said that this is becoming less common/needed these days as well * One positive I can offer you though is that if you do receive an acceptance for a place to get your MSc in Finance, is that after graduation at a university or university of applied sciences then foreign students can spend up to 12 months to find a job as a highly skilled migrant. You can read about this here on this site http://www.nuffic.nl/international-students/alumni/working-after-your-studies/seeking-work-after-graduation which is a really good site for all info about studying in the Netherlands Best of luck EDIT - Actually 'marriage' would not automatically qualify you to automatically be able to reside anyway. There is no difference between marriage a recognised relationship. To live in NL on the basis of a relationship - presumably 'family formation' (as you would not have lived together previously) then your partner would have to prove they could provide for you, thus earning at least 120% of the minimum wage with at least a year contract (from point of application). You would need a shed load of documents which have been officially verified and the applicaton fee alone is in excess of €800 and of course proof of relationship e.g. visits, Emails etc. You also both have to be 21 or older http://www.buitenlandsepartner.nl/ and http://www.ind.nl/ EDIT2 - sorry Orla, but if you are in a recognised relationship (which of course includes marriage)& are living together, then the required residence permit reduces from 5 to 3 years, and not 5 or 6 as you state. You can see this http://www.minbuza.nl/en/Services/Consular_Services/Dutch_Nationality/How_can_I_acquire_Dutch_nationality#internelink3 on the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs site EDIT3 - does it make a difference if you marry Doutzen Kroes? Nope. If anything it makes it harder because she lives principally in the US. (of course not even taking into account that the chance she would marry a stranger to help them become legal is so minutely small that it's not even worth discussing!)
2 :
Marriage won't get you anywhere, you need to live there for 5 or 6 years before you can apply for citizenship. You will need to learn to read, write and speak Dutch. And it's not that hard, there are classes for foreigners. If you have particular skills that are in demand in the Netherlands, you could apply for work there, and when you have your job offer in writing, then you can apply for a residency/work permit - but you have to do these from the US. You can't go to NL first. Phone the nearest Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and ask them what you would need to do to get work in the country. Please refer to third-level educational institutions in Europe as 'universities'. School is where you attend until you are 18 over here.

Angeline, I thought I remembered the name and indeed found I already answered a similar question from you nearly a year ago http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArLO8gxYYislWVjhUeoYpwjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091129195257AAB5GHf If your husband is going to act as a financial guarantor for your stay and the purpose of your stay is to visit him, then you cannot apply for a "tourist" visa as this is a fraudulent claim, unless you are going to pay for a hotel for the time you are staying there and be able to prove that you are there for being a tourist with a tourist's agenda and not that you are there to visit family. Sweetie, all he has to do is to go to his local municipality and fill in a form which takes less than 5mins, get it signed, stamped and then send it to you with bank statements and job contact details. Being too busy to do that strikes me personally as being absurd. Most town halls have one evening where it is open later for people who have to work, and besides, if he is desperate to see you, he really should make the time. My husband does it all the time when we want his parents to come over for a visit and it's not a big deal. Indeed far less hassle then trying to make a application based on facts which are not true (tourism instead of family) and then having to prove the funds of your own accord for a stay including accomodation Read this again http://www.netherlandsembassy.ph/Products_and_Services/Consular_services/Visa/Applying_for_a_Schengen_visa and then discuss with him about making the time for you :)

using my blackberry that i bought in south africa in holland?
i need help with this not sure how it works. i have a blackberry curve. i am leaving for holland in june, i would like to take my phone with me, how do i go about using my phone in holland and how will i go about with the blackberry bundle that you have to purchase every month? please help me not so clued up with this

1 :
Hi, well i think the best thing to do is to contact your provider before you travel, because using a smartphone abroad could be really expensive if you just keep using your bundle... so in the website of your provider should be stated how is it handled when you travel, because it would be horrible to come back home after your holiday and find out a tremendously high bill related to your blackberry... if you are planning to stay here in The Netherlands for a while, then you could make your blackberry simlock free and take a prepaid sim card for blackberries while here... like an option... but maybe your provider can help you further with this question Good luck
2 :
Two possible scenarios here 1. You're in the Netherlands for a short visit. In that case you can use whatever roaming partner your south african telecom company has here. It will probably work but the data traffic your blackberry needs can be very expensive. Check with your local telecom company 2. You are going to be here longer in which case it would be far cheaper to get a dutch SIM card for the phone and use that. Calling and blackberry data traffic can be a lot cheaper but you will no longer be able to recieve calls on your south african number. Sim cards come in prepaid and with a subscription. Suppliers to look for, kpn.com, t-mobile.nl

No. Diet pills never work. The same companies always put out new pills every year or so, because none of them work for everyone.

On their own, not likely. As an ingredient in other pills such as Xenadrine, somewhat. But even then, weight loss pills are most effective because they give you a little more energy and most importantly, encourage you to exercise, not because they burn more fat.

No. Quack! Quack!

Your Italian Work Permit is only valid in Italy. It's worthless in Germany and Holland so you will need to contact the appropriate Embassy and make a new application. Ian
2 :
Ian is correct in that an Italian work permit is only valid for Italy, however I'm not 100% sure what you mean by an indefinite period If you have lived continuously in Italy for more than 5 years with legal residency for this period then unless there is some exception you should have acquired long-term permanent residency rights for the EU and this means you are able to seek work in another EU member state* http://ec.europa.eu/justice_home/fsj/immigration/residents/fsj_immigration_residents_en.htm * with the exception of United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark You will be required to comply with each member state's requirements in terms of integration (e.g. knowledge of language etc) and the member state still has the right to refuse on the grounds of public policy or public security, and a member state still has the right to right to limit the number of residence permits http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/justice_freedom_security/free_movement_of_persons_asylum_immigration/l23034_en.htm How do you get a job? Well in the same way as others do. Look at websites and search under the field of your experience. Bear in mind that without a degree of fluency in the native language then you are at a distinct disadvantage if you are narrowing the marketing to English speaking only vacancies. For the Netherlands you can find some links/tips here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=At8C2z77vADYsE5wW1qrxsfty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100427071015AA6evUi If you have not acquired this long term residency status (an an official confirmation of such from Italian authorities) then you do not have the right to seek work automatically without applying for a work permit/visa on the basis of your skills/education/experience and such permits are not granted unless it can be proved unequivocally that no other worker in the total EEA can fill this vacancy. Quality control functions are not usually deemed as highly specialist positions

Any Ideas for specials in a small family owned restaurant in Greece

Any Ideas for specials in a small family owned restaurant in Greece?
My family owns a restaurant on a Greek island and right now the business in slow. The tourists we work with are from England, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Slovakia. The other restaurants put items for VERY cheap, like 10 euros for two which includes two entrees, salad, and wine, and we can't compete because we serve higher quality foods. Do you have any ideas of foods, particularly from the countries mentioned to draw in some customers? Our menu consists of greek foods, mexcian food, pizzas and pastas.

Maybe some live music and/or an authentic Greek band...or a guitarist or violinist to walk among the tables and play? Serving some meals outside (if you don't already)?...
2 :
Ti kanis! I suppose your family is greek? Try serving homemade chicken shiskabobs served in lemon with a cucumber sauce. Called souvlakia and tzatziki.
3 :
Well, I can't imagine that tourists are traveling to Greece and wanting to eat their native foods...Isn't that part of the thrill of traveling? However, if you believe that to be the case, try checking into some websites that will cue you in on local foods from those areas, then try incorporating 1 or 2 items into your restaurant's menu. British Food: http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/questions/food/index.htm http://www.fellwalk.co.uk/londonfood2.htm Dutch (Holland & Denmark) Food: http://www.thehollandring.com/food.shtml http://www.godutch.com/windmill/recipes.asp?id=all Swedish Food: http://www.freeway.org/issue1/food/tidning.htm http://www.sverigeturism.se/smorgasbord/smorgasbord/culture/lifestyle/food.html Norwegian Food: http://www.matoppskrift.no/sider/english_recipe.asp http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/recipes.html Slovakian Food: (scroll to Food) http://www.itisnet.com/english/e-ce/e-slovakia/e-Genslov.htm http://www.heartofeurope.co.uk/features_recipe.htm ********************************************************************** Also, if you can't compete with the other restaurants low prices on a constant level, why not try a special for lunch. Or do something like a "sunset menu", where you offer an appetizer/starter, entree/main, and dessert/after for a set fee, make the choices slim, like only 3 or 4 of each category. Or perhaps try serving a free glass of wine with dinner, or an after drink of ouzo or something like that. You need to be creative to try and draw people in. Keep working on it, I am sure your family will do well....they are lucky to have you helping!!

I had a dutch passport as a child but have since had an aussie one, which should I travel under to holland

I had a dutch passport as a child but have since had an aussie one, which should I travel under to holland?
I am looking at traveling this year and am only going for a holiday so it's not a working trip but are there are other advantages of traveling under a dutch passport and as I am married with three children, is there a benefit for them now or in the future? They are not coming with me this time.
Netherlands - 4 Answers

1 :
When you travel with your dutch passport you can stay longer and you can travel to every other european county without a visa. If you're going by plane the waiting lines might be shorter for EU citizens.(at least that was last time I traveled by plane within europe. Non EU citizens had to wat longer) I think that if you want to move to the Netherlands with your kids it will be a lot easier to get Dutch passports for them too if you already have one.
2 :
If you travel with a Dutch passport you are a EU citizen and can travel all over Europe without the need for a visa. If you have not registered your kids at the Dutch embassy when they were born and they don't have Dutch nationality they will need a visa to travel to Europe and won't be able to stay for more than 90 days.
3 :
dutch passports are only valid for 4 years. so unless you did not renew your passport. you wont be able to enter the country with a passport from when you were a child. as an australian youll need a visa. you could visit the dutch embassy or consulate to see if you can renew your dutch passport. that way you would not need a visum
4 :
For this trip the hassle and expense of obtaining a new Dutch passport will far outweigh any advantages. For your children, however, check if they are eligible for Dutch citizenship and fill out the forms at the website of the Dutch embassy: http://www.netherlands.org.au/ (You needn't get them passports at this point - why bother with the added expense if they can pick one up later.) The Dutch are against dual nationalities but they also have a few loopholes. A Dutch passport will open up all of Western Europe ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area ) for them for future study and residency/ employment opportunities. They might never use the option but if you can give them that, it's a magnificent present. It's something to look into... but not for your upcoming trip.

This would be "undercover in Nederland" from SBS6: http://www.sbs6.nl/web/show/id=901140/langid=43/media=33648/page=1 Or Nederland narcostaat: http://redir.vara.nl/tv/zembla/welcome2.html?20050616/zembla A lot of it is "home" grown as a payment for the supplies. You see the supplies shops almost everywhere. Many attempts fail because of the police raids or accidents with water. I have see these raids a lot. People who own the apartments are left with the mess and energy is always stolen. Some grow the weed in the field between farmer crops and hope they do not notice. Recently farmers got convicted for this and take better care. I remember from my youth the distribution works with dealers and is even more illegal. That weed comes from Holland was only in the last 25 years. New species were developed that made this possible. Most cities have a ban on new coffee shops. Government will also introduce a license to buy, in order to rule foreigners who buy their drug in The Netherlands out. For the many web-pages and forums on the subject you have to use the Dutch keywords: wiet nederwiet wietteelt wiethandel and wietkweek. "wiet" can be replaced by "hennep" in hennepteelt, hennepkweek and hennephandel. Also hennepkwekerij or hennep kwekerij.

Using ammonia in cleaning kitchen utensils

Using ammonia in cleaning kitchen utensils?
I used to work in a restaurant in Holland, and the chef often use ammonia to clean the kitchen. I can see that it is an instant solution, yet wonder if it is actually safe. I am not sure whether or not he also use it to clean the kitchen utensils and the pan. So, is it actually safe to use ammonia to clean the kitchen utensils and the pan? And if it is not, what would you do with the utensils that have been contaminated with ammonia - besides throwing it in a bin. Many thanks.

we dont use amonia to clean in resturaunts here because amonia gas can get absorbed into food stuffs. Its a good safe cleaner but we keep it out of the fridges and anywhere food is actually being prepared. A better solution is to use straight vinegar.

Well, I know it would be quite a turnaround, but you said you are attending a university, but you haven't declared a major? I think that's what you meant. If that's the case, maybe you should try child psychiatry, or be a youth couselor. If you are religious, maybe even a youth pastor.

Child Wefare. You don't have a degree right now but you could get a job as a Home Visitor, advising new mothers and acting as a mentor to the mother and helping her make decisons, hre in Florida it is part of the First Step Program. They will also accomodate your studies. You have not said what your degree is going to be in. You could also try the YMCA social services program.

You might want to take the free survey offered by the Princeton Review at http://www.princetonreview.com/cte/quiz/career_quiz1.asp That asks you a series of questions that help determine the types of jobs you'd be good at and enjoy. You do have to register to get the list of suitable careers, but it's free and all you have to give them is an e-mail address. Or maybe one of the assessments found at http://www.quintcareers.com/online_assessment_review.html would be helpful.

Can I apply for a UK working visa before my Schengen expires

Can I apply for a UK working visa before my Schengen expires?
Im Australian and applied for a schegnen visa in July 09 which then turned into a working residence permit for holland and expires in July 2010. Now Im thinking of working in London, if I apply for my UK visa to start in May 2010, when will I be able to go back to Holland or any other EU country?

Your UK visa has nothing to do with your Dutch visa. You may apply for a UK visa at any time. This will not influence your Dutch visa directly, however the fact that you move to the UK will eventually lead to your Dutch long term residency visa being canceled. Australians may enter and remain in the entire Schengen area for up to 90 days, which is sufficient if you live in the UK and are just visiting.

Hi, yeah i know another one of these questions. There are jobs in English primarily for international companies like DHL, but when you want a job without a college and/or university education then you are going to struggle quite honestly and especially in this economy. Not having a high education rules out most of the jobs which are located around Den Haag (The Hague) namely the International Organisations such as Eurojust, Europol, ICC, ICTY, OPCW etc To get a position there you need specialist work experience and/or a high level of education If I were you, I would take a two-fold approach. 1 - The first is that I would contact the job agencies in Den Haag. They will have a good idea of what International companies are in their area, what kind of positons come up & how often. A job agency is an 'Uitzendburo' or 'Uitzendbureau' and here is the link to the yellow pages in English http://www.detelefoongids.nl/bedrijven.html?locale=en_NL&visitorUid=8a90219019e8964d0119fceb83741af7&passwordToken=E644C26C-E692-C22B-C325-C9DC39460A68&newSearch=true&previousPath=displayhome 2 - Check out the job sites to see what you can find for yourself. There are also some sites in English where English language jobs are placed. The most famous one is http://www.undutchables.nl (which is also a job agency for English speakers) Then here are a couple more that I know of: http://www.xpatjobs.com http://jobs.expatica.com/nl What you can also do is check the Dutch version of Monsterboard and type "English" in the 'trefwoord' (keyword) field http://www.monsterboard.nl Also the Den Haag municipality site gives some more links http://www.denhaag.nl/en/residents/to/Finding-work.htm There are no guarantees and it's not going to be easy to find work because although the Netherlands has not been hit as bad as the UK it is getting very tight here as well, and I hear more people worried about their jobs and also being laid off as well. Factor in the fact that many of them speak good enough to fulful the English speaking jobs as well and you have a lot of competition. So I really would strongly advise you to check out your chances of employment in advance to coming over. For the practicalities side of things then here are a couple more tips <Registration> The first thing you need to do (within 5 working days of arrival) is to register at your local town hall (gemeentehuis), and then after registration you can obtain a BSN number (similar to the National Insurance number in the UK and this is the replacement of the SOFI number as mentioned in another answer, but you do NOT get it from the tax office anymore). Fortunately the Den Haag muncipality site has a lot of info in English http://www.denhaag.nl/en/residents/relocation-and-settling.htm <Healthcare> As a resident of the Netherlands you will need to have health insurance (mandatory by law) and the EHIC card will NOT cover you because you are a resident of the Netherlands and not a tourist. The NHS site confirms this "..if you move to the Netherlands to live but not work and do not receive a UK benefit, you may be eligible for up to two-and-a-half years of state healthcare cover, paid for by the UK. In this case, you will need to apply for an E106. - read here for confirmation and details on how to apply http://www.nhs.uk/nhsengland/healthcarenetherlands/pages/healthcarenetherlands.aspx <Banks account> As soon as you have your BSN number then you can open a bank account. ABN Amro has pages in English and also the internet banking is also in English so this is a good option if you don't speak Dutch http://www.abnamro.nl/en/prive/klant_worden/documentation.html <Leaving the UK> This is a good site to read as well because there are loose ends you have to tie up before leaving the UK (e.g. declaration to the tax office, unregistering yourself on the electoral role etc http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/BritonsLivingAbroad/BeforeYouGo/DG_4000018 As I said, coming from someone who has moved several times in the EU, then doing the groundwork and getting as much info as possible can really help a lot and can make the difference between settling and moving back after an expensive mistake. So do your homework before packing your bags :) Good luck
2 :
I don't fancy your chances over there if you're a college drop-out. Dutch employers like educational qualifications. I would suggest that you get back into college and finish your education in the UK, and then try your luck in the Netherlands.
3 :
TNT are laying off hundreds of people this week. Im sure a lot of them will end up in DHL. If you have any call center experience you should be ok. My advise would be if you want to move, save up enough to keep you going for at least 4/5 months. That's what I did and it worked out. I also don't have a college education but have good work experience. Good luck.
4 :

yes holland and barrett is the best place to buy from because they wont scam you and they don't charge £80 a bottle like some of the online scams. don't buy the acai juice though it tastes absolutely foul.. however, i would perhaps ignore the acai berry altogether, they're not as great as everyone says, they do exactly the same as blueberries would, and blueberries aren't nearly as expensive. the best thing to do if you're after supplements or nutrients to be healthy is to eat more berries in general. do not go for any 'free trials' most of these are scams.

Am I average, chubby, fat, or really fat

Am I average, chubby, fat, or really fat?
Hi, Recently I've been feeling very down about my weight. I have always had really thick legs a small waist and big hips, always!! Well not the hips so much but always the legs ever since I was little. I'm 13 and I am 129 lbs. I am about 5 ft 3 inches. I have had to fit my eating habits around my little brother who for almost three years couldn't have any milk at all. My mum used to work in Holland and Barrett so we had LOADS of health food and I practically lived on it. But then when I got to about 10 I got so jealous of my friends because they had crisps and chocolate and white bread in their lunches and I had fruit bars apples and granary bread..... So I started buying my own food but they stayed skinny and I gained loads of weight :/ My family are walkers not runners. I can walk for miles at a very fast Pace but when it comes to running...well I'm just about last in most races! Please I need your honest opinion and could you please give me some ideas on how to lose a bit of weight thanks :) pictures: http://profile.imageshack.us/user/bethyexe?n=y

Just a little chubby.
3 :
you look great to me! I feel the same way as you... Honestly though, you look great.
4 :
You are average. Your not fat by any means. Its important to be healthy, just eat healthy and exercise. Your a beautiful young lady.
5 :
I think you're beautiful, face like an angel. Are you fit and healthy? Can you walk up flights of stairs without gasping and shop off the rack? Then you're fine-- love yourself.
6 :
Are you guys above me for real? "a big medium"?? "fat?" Hun you're 5'3 and 129lbs! thats just about perfect! But start watching what you eat, otherwise you may start to put a lot more weight on. Crisps, chocolate and white bread are lethal. Get back to that holland and barratt food miss! Im 16, 5'4, 133lbs. I too have HUGE hips and thick legs (thighs anyway). But thats all part of being a woman. As you get older, you'll realise boys prefer a womanly figure - with hips and thighs! They don't want some skinny, stick-shaped boy! And you probably still have yet to have your growth spurt, so I wouldn't worry too much at the moment. Especially at your age. I only started slimming down at 15, i used to be 151lbs at 14 years old! Just try to make sure you don't go down that road.... it's not nice! xxx
7 :
Even if your friends are eating junk food that doesn't mean you need to. If all your friends started playing with guns, would you? Honestly, (regardless of your weight) ask yourself this, "When did I feel better (physically and psychologically), when I was eating healthy food or now when I'm eating junk?" The point is, you have to do what you know is best for your own body. Your friends may not gain weight now, but they are making more fat cells with each bite of chocolate they take, so before too long, it'll catch up to them. If you start eating healthy food again (which I promise will make you feel really good), when your friends start to get fat (which they will), you will be the skinny one! :)
8 :
On the last pic. u looked a little chubby.. but seriously its not a problem. everyone worries about their figure and there is no need to... I worry about it all the time and i know i shouldn't but that is just how the human mind works... i am 13yo 5'5 and i weigh 130lbs? i think and yeah it changes like everyday... :/ not one of my favorite things in the world.. and if you r truely concerned just do a few situps every night or anything that will help you in the long run (just stay active... i'm havin trouble with that lol...)

why give a phone number to a stranger just because you talk for a while

why give a phone number to a stranger just because you talk for a while?
I recently posted a question about whether Dutch girls have a particular aversion to giving out their phone number; as in 3 separate experiences with Dutch girls this past weekend, all 3 balked at my request for their mobile number after we had been talking for a good amount of time. In the US, I've not regularly had this issue when chatting up girls at the bars or clubs. This is 1 answer I got: 'They don´t want stalkers on the phone, my friend. It has nothing to do with directness, but why give your phone number to a stranger, just because you talk to him for a while? Next time, give them your number. If they are interested, they´ll call you.' Now, my impression was that the Dutch people are generally direct and concise, so I thought Dutch girls would be more forward about showing a lack of interest than talking to a guy for a half-hour and then shooting him down when he asks for a contact. The question I pose in the subject of this post: is it not the point in giving this stranger your number after you've talked for a while? It's not as though you're going to continue talking to them for 48 hours straight in that one spot in the bar; people have to go home and you exchange contact info to resume an interaction at a later time. Is the second part of that answer I got have something to do with the goal of gender egalitarianism in Dutch society? Instead of the classic 'guy gets girl's number and she has to wait to see if he will call her,' it becomes 'guy offers his number to girl and after if she takes it then he has to wait to see if she will call him' ?? Am I loopy or is this how things work in Holland between guys and girls meeting for the first time? I'm aware that Dutch guys are generally reserved and do not often approach girls first; but is this so ingrained that Dutch girls become somewhat offended if they get approached that they field a conversation for a time and then just wave the hand? Is there some sort of subliminal neo-feminism in all Dutch women? My final thought is regarding the 'if they're interested they'll call you.' Is it not that a guy gets a girl's number and calls her and then 'if they're interested, they'll call you BACK' ?? Someone, please enlighten me on Dutch 'courting rituals' and if I am out of line (queue) to approach a Dutch girl at a bar/club. BTW, I am American and 23 y/o.

Easy answer. They were humoring you when they talked to you. Face it, they were just not that into you.

what does my dream mean

what does my dream mean?
I had a dream that my ex fling sent me an email. He stated that he wasn't dead and that the reason why I haven't heard from him in a while is because the church he goes to has given him a position - I'm not quite sure what his position is but he sign documents. He attached some of the documents he signed onto the email. All of a sudden, after reading the email, the setting changed to a church in Scotland. The congregation is fairly small and when the priest asked for volunteers to go do mission work in Holland he was one of the first one to raise his hand. At that point I started questioning myself if I was going to let him back into my life and pick up where we left off. I was tempted to forget about everything and be his fling again. &that's where my dream stopped. Background information: My fling once left me for seven whole months. Within only waiting a few weeks for him I told him that I didn't want to be his fling anymore. All connection was stopped. Seven months later he comes back into my life. He only stuck around for 2 months. After that 2 months he disappeared again. I got fed up with his disappreance so I sent him a text on Thanksgiving day officially ending everything we ever had. I haven't talked to him since or did he replied back. I kinda check up on him once while and according to his log in he hasn't been on since 47 days ago. So yeah.

It might mean that you were wrong about his personality, since he was just a fling. ,aybe you didn't find out enough about him. it might not mean anything thoiugh. i would just ignore and maybe you dreamed it because u wanta serious relationship. get one
2 :
Many of our dreams are messages from our subconscious. It appears that your subconscious would love for him to reappear again, and the only good excuse for his absence would be that he was doing religious work in a church with actual documentation (the signed documents) and seeing the church. Even with all that, you would still be suspicious and have trust issues, which is completely natural. This may also be a warning of sorts from your intuition that he may actually try to reappear; then what will you do? Be prepared! Are you ready to accept someone in your life who comes and goes at their own whims?

First of all, all countries aside, just because a girl talks to a guy while out, doesn't mean that she wants to continue talking to him after. I think offering your number to her is a good idea--then it puts the ball in her court. And with cell phones and all, anybody can see your number pop up and you may not want to talk to them. It used to be more private back in the day--you had to wait to see if they would call you back, etc. I have no idea how the Dutch work, but you are reading into it A LOT. Why are you so offended by this behavior? Having that difficult of time getting together with the ladies? Maybe choose a different way, like volunteering, taking a class, etc. and get to know them outside of purely social situations. Or make friends with a girl and ask her (without asking her out).

Every girl is different! You need to stop categorizing girls as if they are all the same. There is no general rule as to how "Dutch Girls" behave... or how "American Girls" behave... Some girls go to a bar to meet guys and give out their number. Some girls would prefer to get the guy's number so that she has control over the next move. Some girls just don't like being approached by random guys at the bar and exchange their number. Next time, when you are talking to a girl and if you really like her and genuinely want to see her again, and she seems interested in you, ask her if she would like to meet up for a drink sometime (or something similar)... if she says yes, then ask to exchange numbers (you get hers, she gets yours), then if you are both interested, it might work out... if she doesn't go along with it, then move on, it's not a big deal!

I know that there is a double tax if you are a NJ resident and work in NY but how about the other way around

I know that there is a double tax if you are a NJ resident and work in NY but how about the other way around?
I am a New york resident and i recently heard that you have to pay tax for both states? i dont know much about taxes so any ideas on if i have to pay? Cos maybe like the holland tunnel fee going into NYC cost money but going out doesnt so if im trying to work in NJ?

1 :
There is no "double tax" per se. What happens is that if you work in NY you are taxed by NY and NJ but when you complete your taxes at year end, you get an allowance for your NY taxes on your NJ taxes. You have to complete tax returns for both NY and NJ. The same thing happens if you live in NY and work in NJ.
2 :
And then you'll pay the Holland Tunnel toll going home. In the simplest terms, you'll pay the higher tax of the two states. You'll file a non-resident tax return with the state where you work. Any tax that you pay to the state where you work will be used as a credit to the state where you live. Example: You work in NY but live in NJ. The tax you owe NY is $1000 and the tax you owe NJ is $700. When you file your NJ return, you won't owe them any money because what you paid NY more than covers it. OK, now say you owe NY $700 and NJ $1000. When you file your NJ return, you will only owe them $300 since you get a $700 against the $1000. Nothing with New York is simple. However, New Jersey has an agreement with Pennsylvania where if you live in one state and work in the other, you owe have to file with the state where you live.

Why is Saudi Arabia not targeted by USA

Why is Saudi Arabia not targeted by USA........?
9/11 Attackers were mostly Saudis and one Lebanese Financiers and supporters are mostly Wahhabi, Saudis, Ben Laden Saudi, But yet Saudi Arabia is sparred and not questioned? Backers and Fighters in Yemen, Iraq and Algeria are mostly Saudi nationals and Saudi funded ( GIA Algeria ) Why then, Iraq got whacked ? Is it Oil? Because I am trying to understand why Saudis are let go Iraqis are not? Saudi talks alot but I have never head a Skirmish between Saudi and Israeli army, never heard Bin Laden and Wahhabi s threatening Zionist? Why many Palestinians are living in a mess in Lebanon ( a small country that kind enough to take care but obviously Lebanon need alot of help ) and why Saudi Arabia is not taking this Palestinians? Is Saudi untouchable or there is more to all this? Palestinians and Lebanese are one of the most brightest people in the Arab world, are there a threat to Saudi? The only help I saw from Saudi are their "touristic" behavior ( spending and *** ) in Lebanon. Saudi Arabia is the Gangster of the Arab world, I am "Impressed" they can do whatever they want, wow. They bad mouth the Shiattes but its the Shiaa that has balls to face IDF, they manipulated the Christians by making them sign the TAEF in Lebanon Mecca and Medina should just be an autonomous area run by OIC not the Saudi people. Strangely, UAE with their tons of hoes and prostitutes and clubs were sparred by Islamic Fundamentals, they were never threatened, but yet Bombs will hit Beirut areas, Iraq , Algeria and Egypt . Iraqi refuge slaved in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, Saudi came to have 13 year olds, its obvious thanks to Youtube and other Levantine Arabs who has seen these sex hungry tourist from the Gulf taking yo young ara flesh, In Yemen they married 16 year old virgins and after 4 months drop this poor Yemeni wife back to Yemeni desert borders! One Saudi was chased and killed by one Yemeni Bedoin ( deserved it ) Please pardon my English, its my 4th language. Not as smart as most of you -Bsc in Astrophysics and doing graduate Astrophysics studies and creative work every night, and alot of days...but I have to get this out my chest. I was born in another 1st world ( not US ) and an Arab. I lived in Lebanon for awhile for work, Algeria, Holland, Yemen, Australia and New York .Been to Haifa, Tel Aviv, West Bank, Jerusalem,4 weeks. Additional Details http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;… I posted this on Politics too :) Tia sorry it was not supposed to be in Lebanon section and yes it was a Q only the bright can answer not for little Mansaf eaters, walk. Thanks Nazira and Aussie thanks mate! Everyone is dumping their problems in Lebnen, I don't understand . Palestinians and Lebanese are one of the brightest people in the Arab world. Imma give you my point of view ..a 17 year old's point of view who has had enough of the Arab naïveté.. In Ksa there is King Fahd University which is run by mostly Americans. Life on campus is very different.. Girls and guys can normally socialize.. Girls don't have to wear hijab ....As you see it's total freedom in the heart of saudi! Now, they are funding a nuclear program at the university.. Saudis lacking any potential will definitely ask Americans for help who will develop the nukes and hence enforce themselves in saudi arabia .. That's the thing .. we are always economically dependant and we always seek USA for help in science .. We never make our own technology.. Sadly khaliji men just spend their money on prostitutes in Lebanon.. Instead of investing money in people's asses you can do something useful with it ! What I said is mostly based on common sense.. idk if any of that will happen but my cousin went to K.F.university and saw what's going on there.. They are even building two churches there! Americans are going to spread in the KSA before we know it

America needs Saudia Arabia! Saudi Arabia is strong, not only with oil but with other things too. So the U.S needs Saudi and they have an high agreement too. Same with U.A.E. if marijuana was legal but only for 18+ and it was taxed, government controlled and prevented abuse of it

if marijuana was legal but only for 18+ and it was taxed, government controlled and prevented abuse of it?
this is how it works in holland, and they have the lowest rate of marijuana abuse in the country, as well as the lowest rates of any drug in the world, and has one of the richest economies through taxation and government control over the purities and sale of it, it would work in the US with this kind of idea, wouldn't it? it's unavailable to minors under 18, the use of vehicles and so on is illegal still under use of it, for instance considered the same as a DUI, it's enforced the same as alcohol for the most part yet is less health impacting than alcohol, and tobacco as found by both US and European Union studies over the last 100 years. i mean the lowest rate of marijuana abuse in the world.

Go right ahead....just be prepared to lose your job when you can't past a drug test.
4 :
When the government describes abuse as smoking it, how can you make it legal and prevent abuse? Hell, prescription drugs are abused, it is human nature to like to alter our consciousness on occasion and no law or absence of a law will change that. It is just a plant that humans like to smoke and make rope and nothing more, legalize it already. The answer below me, great point. It is legal here in Colorado to grow your own if you can afford $90.00 and a visit to a "green" doctor to get a medical card. Loving the buds growing.
5 :
yeah, but look at what happened with tobacco... it used to be pure, but since the government got ahold of it and the big companies are money hungry morons, now they are putting rat poison and 100's of other chemicals in it. you're better off just growing your own weed- That should be legal. Dont let the government get their hands on it.
6 :
Ever been to Amsterdam? The "meat wagons" run all evening and cart of those who have OD ed on the streets. Don't tell me they don't have a problem. Go there. They have "Bars" that sell all you can possibly consume. Like fine wines, the various forms are labeled according to the source and type. The hashish varieties are particularly good. Enjoy, the ambulance ride is free to tourists.
7 :
"But if the young people start smoking the wacky-weed, who's gonna fight the commies?" This is my hyperbolic interpretation of the real argument most American's have against legalizing Cannabis. Even it falls flat on its face. I know my fair share of soldiers who would smoke with friends when they get leave, but cannot for fear of getting DD'd. That's right, former-stoners (would be current stoners) want to fight for our country. I think its a good idea, but what do I know? I'm a stoner.
8 :
You mean we could pay people to grow it. Pay people to transport it. Pay people to sell it like liquor. Raise tax money for schools and fire fighters. Take a product out of the hands of drug cartels. Save billions on dropping the war on drugs. And to boot we could save millions of trees by using hemp for paper. Sounds like the Dutch just might have an idea. P.S. to the Sock Monkey , why test for something legal ?
9 :
Well unlike Philip I have never been to Amsterdam.......... I have only lived there (and still visit on a regular basis living 40mins away), but hey of course his words of wisdom MUST be correct right because he's been there once. Actually the whole tirade is littered with inaccuracies and if you want to really understand the policies and importantly the results of the policies concerning drug use (and sales of marijuana which actually is tolerated but not legal btw) then you can read these two documents produced by The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs http://www.minbuza.nl/dsresource?objectid=buzabeheer:58788&type=pdf and Ministry of Health http://www.minvws.nl/en/folders/vgp/2009/drug-policies-in-the-netherlands.asp I have never seen a meat wagon so I have absolutely no clue what he was smoking when he saw one of these! Yes there are some people stumbling around Amsterdam because they have taken it to excess and are stoned out of their minds or drunk, or worse - both, but guess what, the vast majority of those are not Dutch but tourists visiting the city and going mad because like the child with the cookie jar syndrome, they are stuffing themselves with cookies because of the opportunity whilst the Dutch child just stands and laughs (well I use to dodge and stay well clear!) There are not "bars" selling weed in Amsterdam but licenced coffeeshops and one of the conditions of them retaining a licence and not being prosecuted for sales of marijuana is to sell a max of 5g per person, per day (to over 18's) which is hardly the same as "sell all you can possibly consume" Oh and the ambulance ride isn't free either, pretty expensive taxi if you don;t have insurance to cover you ... but as I said, what do I know eh?
