I am traveling to Holland in a few months and do not want to carry my passport with me while out at the bars and clubs but I do know I will need to show identification to gain entrance. I am from the US so will my drivers license or photocopy of passport work?

Based on the Compulsory Identification Act of the Netherlands you will need to have your original valid passport to show to Dutch authorities on request.
